We’re back after catering across the Cotswolds during our eventful summer. This summer was one of our busiest yet. We catered for 31 weddings in total – yes that’s more than one a week on many occasions! Despite the fact that most of our time was taken up with weddings, each special day and celebration was very different. Some were in marquees, others in village halls, and we were also treated to gorgeous countryside surroundings at a number of beautiful listed barns.
The personal touch
A few of our couples treated us to some extra special settings to work in though. These included a railways museum, where the ceremony and the reception took place on the platform surrounded by vintage steam trains, and an art deco venue at Oxford University. We were also delighted to cater for two same sex weddings – both of which had a backdrop of lovely weather along with two gorgeous gowns.
The wedding menus varied across the celebrations too. Our last couple of the summer requests bar snacks for their canapés, while one of our May couples opted for a ‘posh picnic.’ It was salads, fish platters and enormous homemade pork pies galore as the pair and their wedding guests dined in style in a contemporary, fresh setting.
It’s fair to say no day was the same – just the way we like it!
A celebrity encounter
While it may be hard to believe we had time for any more events, we managed to squeeze a few things in. From christenings, to intimate family events, and special birthdays… in fact, we even had a brush with a celebrity this summer as we catered for DIY SOS’s Nick Knowles’ gorgeous son’s christening.
We were also lucky enough to team up with some fantastic suppliers for some of these events, including the Red House Cake Company, who make incredible cakes, to The Cotswold Children’s Party Company – who are absolutely flawless party planners. The celebrations certainly wouldn’t have been the same without their hard work.
Tea Set Towers is growing!
While the Chipping Norton Tea Set team may not have run out of steam, our huge collection of china didn't quite meet the needs of all our events. We were so busy that all our china and glassware was in use at any one point – so we had to have a restock in August!
Not ones to put our feet up for the winter we’ll putting our creative cogs to new plans. It’s early days at the moment, but it you’re itching to find out more watch this space! While we’re working on these exciting new plans for Tea Set Towers, we’re also developing our corporate, buffet lunch and canapé service. We already have a few regular clients in this industry - that enjoy a bite of our homemade quiches, fresh cakes and spicy soups - and look forward to working with more.
If you have any upcoming events you’d like us to cater for, please do get in touch. You can find our details here on our contact page. In the meantime we best get back to what we do best -baking up some bite-sized delights!
