Happy Vintage Mothering Sunday!

Although Valentines Day is one of my personal favourites, it’s not really cause for a vintage afternoon tea for 8 or more people! Therefore here at The Tea Set, apart from Valentine cupcakes, we don’t really get involved too much in the loved-up couples day, they usually choose a romantic meal for two or a night away in a swish hotel.

The next big celebration in our calendar is Mothering Sunday, and having a large family myself - mother, husband, four children & their partners - I know just how delightful it is to spend a couple of hours with your loved ones, enjoying delicious finger sandwiches & dainty sweet treats all served on fine bone china  with plenty of loose leaf tea from pretty, dainty teapots.

Of course you can cater for this special family occasion yourself, using your ‘best’ china & baking tasty fairy cakes, scones and other sweet indulgencies. If you don;t have any family heirloom china buried in the back of a cupboard you can always hire it in quite affordably, I feel it’s well worth the extra expense to make it a lovely experience.

Then, of course, if you really want to indulge your mum, yourself & your nearest & dearest why not have the whole thing delivered to your door? All you need to do is provide a table and the boiling water! The rest - food, china, cutlery, linen - is taken care of, you don’t even need to do the washing up!

Now that’s what I call a proper Mothers Day treat!
